1. Insert the steering column into the base of the unit.
2. Verify the type of release lever that is on the 790 Steerable Knee Walker. If the release lever has a gray rubber tip continue on to step 3. If the lever has the thumb slide release go to step 10.
3. Align the top of the handle bar with the cross brace of the steerable wheels so that they are parallel.
4. Locate the tiller folding release lever and pull it down.
5. Continue pulling down the release lever until the locking nut is disengaged from the top half or the tiller.
6. Fold down the top half of the tiller. The top half of the tiller will fold down at an angle to the base of the unit. The top of an Allen bolt will be exposed.
7. Using a 6 mm Allen wrench, tighten up this bolt.
8. Tilt the tiller back to the vertical position. Slide up the column release lever safety collar (1). Pull up on the column release lever to lock the column in place.
9. Engage the column release lever safety collar over the column release lever. Proceed to step 17.
10. Align the arrow on the tiller with the arrow on the unit.
11. Push up on the thumb slide release.
12. Pull the release lever away from the tiller.
13. Continue pulling down the release lever until the locking nut is disengaged from the top half or the tiller.
14. Fold down the top half of the tiller. The top half of the tiller will fold down at an angle to the base of the unit. The top of an Allen bolt will be exposed.
15. Using a 6 mm Allen wrench, tighten up this bolt.
16. Tilt the tiller back to the vertical position. Verify that the nut is in place on the top of upper tiller column. Pull up on the column release lever to lock the tiller column in place.
17. To install the knee pad turn the knee pad height adjustment knob counterclockwise.
18. Continue to turn the knee pad height adjustment knob until the end of the threaded section in no longer protruding into the seat post receiver.
19. Insert the knee pad post into the knee pad receiver. Slide the knee pad to the desired height. Turn the knee pad height adjustment knob clockwise. The knee pad may have to be raised or lowered slightly so that the knee pad adjustment knob will thread through one on the holes in the knee pad post.
20. Tighten the seat post adjustment knob completely.
21. To adjust the height of the handle bar, locate the handle bar height adjusting collar.
22. Flip the release lever of the handle bar height adjusting collar away from the column.
23. Set the handle bar to the desired height by lifting up or down (1). Push the release lever of the collar towards the tiller column to lock the handle bar (2).
24. To lock the hand brakes in the lock position, pull on the both hand brake handles (1). With your thumbs push in the hand brake locking pin on each hand brake (2).
25. Release the hand brake handle while holding the hand brake locking pins in. To release the brakes pull on the hand brake handles and the hand brake locking pins will disengage.
