1. The tiller is locked when the tiller locking knob is not in the upright position.

2. Pull out the tiller locking knob and turn to the upright position. If there is any difficulty in pulling out the tiller locking knob turn the tillier slightly either left or right untill the tiller locking knob can be pulled out.

3. The tiller is unlocked when the tiller release knob is in the upright position. To lock the tiller reverse this proceedure.
